THE BEGINNING
On the 4th September 2000 the then Director of School Supervision Mr. Roland Maharaj visited #35-37 Clarke Road in Penal and at 9:45 am installed Mr. Chaitnarine Lalla as Principal II of Shiva Boys’ Hindu College. There were not any students that day but present were Mr. Shane Lutchman, Ms. Reya Sahadeo, Mr. Shankar Bedaissee and Mr. Rajesh Ramkhelewan.
Thus began Shiva Boys’ Hindu College in the old and hastily refurbished Ghandi College Building that had only the barest of essentials for a school, namely – a single building with seven (7) rooms partitioned to serve as classrooms, office and staffroom.
Furniture for staff and students were not available so tables and chairs were sourced from the nearby Clarke Road Hindu Temple thus when the Form One students arrived on Wednesday 6th September 2000 the school was prepared and started with religious service by Pundit Rickie Maharaj and Pundit Ashram Maharaj.
At 10:20 am the students progressed into their classes where they were received by their Form Teachers and classes began in Shiva Boys’ Hindu College.
